Dr Thomas Mann

Tom is Managing Director of DHF ltd. His experience includes Chief Executive roles in the National Health Service and the Private Sector. He has held Non-Executive and Chairmanship roles in multinational companies working in the UK, Europe and the USA. He has consulted in acute clinical services, primary care, continuing care, mental health services, in medical devices, health informatics, in procurement, and health care strategy.
As well as the NHS, Tom has worked extensively in the voluntary and private sectors, in the UK, Eastern Europe, the USA, South Africa, Belgium and France.
Tom Mann qualified as a doctor from London University and worked in Glasgow and Manchester before moving to North London.
He became a senior partner in General Practice in 1985 but was offered an opportunity to work in Whitehall as a policy lead at the Department of Health during the first Thatcher reforms.
Tom led teams in primary care, quality processes, strategic objective setting and performance management until appointment as Head of Public Health Division for England. He led the DH's Clinical Governance programme and devised the BMJ's Clinical Evidence publication. He worked as a Health Authority Chief Executive, Regional Director (PM) for North West England and led major service reorganisations across Greater Manchester and the North West, including Children's services, Mental Health, Cancer Services and Heart Disease. He left the NHS to become Director of Strategy for Inventures, a private/public partnership.
He was head hunted by the Commercial Directorate (of the DoH) where he became Director of the National Implementation Team to set up ISTCs (Independent Sector Treatment Centres). Realising the need to monitor the quality of ISTCs, Tom set up a National Quality Monitoring framework for the NHS.
After securing the first tranche of ISTC contracts, he left the Department of Health and set up DHF Ltd, a strategic healthcare consultancy with the specific aspiration of using Subject Matter Experts to lead clinical consultancy.
In 2005 he was head hunted by Capio International to be CEO of Capio UK. He was made Senior Vice President of the international group in Gothenburg.
Capio was the object of a hostile takeover attempts and so, with Private Equity backing, he and his management team raised 1bn Euros for a leveraged buyout of the UK Company. When this bid was rejected, he returned to Management Consultancy with DHF.
DHF has most recently been involved in hospital efficiency improvement, advising on strategic investments and anesthetic Services in the USA. His team is currently developing step up step down services in the UK.
He was Chairman of Trod Medical (a medical devices company, Director and co-owner of Right Field Analytics (a Baltimore based health informatics company) and strategic advisor to an international investment houses specialising in health care investment’s.

Dr. Mark Charny
Qualified as a doctor and obtained a PhD in identifying patients most likely to benefit from health interventions. He was a senior medical manager in the NHS before working at the DoH on clinical effectiveness, clinical guidelines and needs assessment. He became Director of the National Centre for Clinical Audit, before setting up Translucency (translucency.co.uk) which supports clients in making the strongest possible business cases in the UK, in the EU and in the US.
Rob Douthwaite
A nurse expert in Clinical Process Redesign with an extensive track record of success in the USA and UK, working in the public private and voluntary sectors. Rob has improved the cost effectiveness of hospitals, ambulatory centres, NHS treatment Centres and ISTCs. He is a qualified nurse with many years of experience as a theatre nurse, as a head of theatres and as a hospital manager.
Gwenno McCormack
Expert statistician with outstanding skills in analysis and interpretation of the most complex data. She has advised a number of household names on logistics and operational strategies and has worked with health sector data in the NHS and for a leading private care-services company.
Professor Balarajan
A national expert on health systems, he has advised the NHS at a senior level, worked with Central Government and the Third Sector in senior positions (Director, Non-Executive Director, Consultant in Public Health and Clinical Epidemiology).
Guy Thomas
Guy is a Chartered Project Manager (MRICS) and has an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in NHS Project Direction. Guy has worked at a senior level within the NHS and as a consultant to the Department of Health and major healthcare providers. Guy has an outstanding track record for developing and delivering innovative business solutions and identifying new business opportunities for both public and private sector clients across the healthcare market.
Nicola Yendle
Nicola is a Chartered Accountant (ACA). Nicola uses her analytical skills to assist our clients in the development of their procurement strategies and their business offerings and has worked on high profile projects including a major procurement for the Department of Health.
Dr. Thomas Wherry
An outstanding CEO with vast experience of process redesign and performance improvement. Dr Wherry is an anesthesiologist who leads a team of over 80 physicians in North Carolina, delivering Anesthetic services for hospitals within the Atrium Health organisation. A practicing anaesthesiologist, surgical centre director, and consultant, Dr. Wherry specializes in all aspects of perioperative care improvement. He is highly skilled in working with physicians, surgeons, and nursing staff in process improvement and quality improvement. Dr. Wherry has extensive experience of working with hospital surgical teams to help them increase day surgery rates, shorten surgery turnaround times, and improve clinical outcomes for perioperative care.
Dr. Joseph Kreke
Dr. Kreke holds a Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Physics from the University of Tennessee and specializes in mathematical and statistical modelling and data analysis. In addition to his current work as a research analyst for the Artificial Intelligence Group at the Naval Research Laboratory, Dr. Kreke assists several Healthcare companies (TAS and Meridian) with data analysis and process improvement.
